WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?
Dermal fillers are non-surgical cosmetic treatments used to bring a more youthful appearance by restoring volume or eliminating lines, wrinkles and folds to the face, lips, hands and décolleté. The most commonly used material in dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid. This is a natural, non-animal based, stabilised clear gel which hydrates and volumises the tissue.
how do THEY work?
Dermal fillers do just what their name suggests - they fill in the area under the skin. They work to improve the appearance of aging skin by:
- filling in wrinkles, fine lines and deep creases
- improving other imperfections like scars
- filling out thin or wrinkled lips
- plumping up cheeks
- contouring the jaw line and areas of the face
what happens during treatment?
Initial consultation with our cosmetic nurse/doctor is required to assess your suitability for dermal fillers. A topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to the area for 10 minutes prior to treatment to minimise any discomfort. Your practitioner will then inject the dermal filler into the treatment area.
how long does treatment take?
The entire procedure takes approximately 30 minutes with immediate results. Most clients are in and out of the clinic without any downtime following treatment. The treatment can take up to 2 weeks to reach optimal results. With lip enhancement, it is wise to choose your treatment time with care since your lips may be swollen and appear slightly uneven for a few days. The results directly after the treatment should therefore not be seen as the final results.
how long does the treatment last?
Brand leader Juvéderm® dermal filler injections are a temporary procedure and can last anywhere between 3-18 months depending on the area treated and the density of the product used.
